Bayonne
Discover the glamorous Côte Basque ideally located in South West France! What makes one destination more memorable than another? Of course, there’s the intrinsic beauty of a city, its buildings, its “must-sees”. And then there’s everything else, the more abstract, harder-to-quantify emotions. Commonly known as “charm”. Bayonne has that little je-ne-sais-quoi in the air that will make you want to come back. And one of the most important elements of Bayonne’s charm is its conviviality. By all accounts, Bayonne is a city with heart. Despite this slight chauvinism on the part of the locals, which is hard to deny, no one will close any doors on you; some people arrive in Bayonne, and after two years are more Bayonnais than Bayonnais. To do this, you need to understand the codes and respect them, and get involved in local life. There are over 1,500 associations in the city. The common denominator is the desire to do their bit: Bayonnais want to give back to the city what it has given them. Another possible explanation for Bayonne’s charm lies in its young population. Bayonne is a student town: since 1995, the university has been housed in the former Château Neuf barracks in Petit Bayonne, giving it a very special cachet. On Thursday evenings, the day of student parties, the bars of the “Petit” fill up with young people ready to burn off their 20s. Atmosphere guaranteed! How to get to Bayonne
